Collections Manager Vacancy

Salisbury Museum is looking for a Collections Manager (maternity cover).

 

This role is funded by Wessex Museums, a thriving partnership of the four principal museums across Dorset and Wiltshire that tell the stories of Wessex from prehistory to now, namely: Poole Museum, Dorset County Museum, The Salisbury Museum and Wiltshire Museum. Over 300,000 people visit the partner museums each year. 

 

Wessex Museums is an Arts Council England funded National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) and much of the work of our partnership programme centres on engaging with undeserved communities in our localities. Our mission is to support museums to connect, inspire and add value to peoples’ lives.

 

The partnership is looking for an individual who is passionate about working with collections to lead on their management at Salisbury Museum. This will include managing our archaeology store, working on contemporary collecting projects and leading on the development of our online collections resource. The post holder will also work on cross partnership strategies and initiatives such as a new lending strategy for the museums and the virtual Wessex Collections.

 

This is a 28 hour per week maternity cover position for 8 months (with possibility of extension to 12 months when Arts Council Funding confirmed).
