A lecture by Deborah Lambert. A fundraising event. Salisbury Museum’s exceptional Wedgwood collection contains a ‘Frog’ plate from the service commissioned by Catherine the Great. We have invited a well-respected NADFAS lecturer to talk about two great figures of the 18th
century. The Empress of Russia commissioned Josiah Wedgwood to make a dinner and desert service for her new country palace built at Kekerekeksinen, or ‘The Frog marsh’. Each piece, decorated with a different topographical view of a country house, garden or well-known landscape, has become an extraordinary visual record of Great Britain in the 18th century.
