The Avebury landscape has long attracted archaeological interest, drawn by its remarkable prehistoric monumental architecture. However, knowledge of where and how people lived during the Neolithic, when such monuments were being built and used, remains thin. This talk describes the results of an on-going fieldwork project designed to redress that balance. Work to date shows an often surprising set of connections between settlement and ceremonial sites
